Once a sleepy backwater, after 1849 Wokingham grew exponentially due to the railway line connecting it to the larger commercial centre of Reading and the London metropolis. A local MP named John Walter III, who owned the London Times used his own funds to build St. Paul’s Church on Reading Road. Once complete, he also built other well-known landmarks in the vicinity such as St. Paul’s Church of England School and later, in 1893, St. Paul’s Clock House and Parish Rooms.
It is St. Paul’s Clock House which is the new home of the Stiltz Wokingham team. The offices boast a brand new, purpose-built showroom where customers can visit to experience using a Stiltz Home Lift for themselves. The building also houses a new training facility for sales, technical, installation and product training.
Currently, all training takes place in the West Midlands Head Office. To help with logistics and potential issues with capacity, Stiltz felt there was a value in providing an additional training facility located in the south.
Lachlan Faulkner, the company’s founding Director who is based in the Wokingham office explains “We are keen to have somewhere customers can come and experience our products. It’s important when investing in a home lift, to be able to touch and feel it and see how it works. It can be difficult to envisage how the lift actually goes through the floor, and this is a perfect opportunity for visitors to see a Stiltz in action and to ‘test drive’ it.
The new showroom will have latest models of the Stiltz Duo+ Home Lift and Trio+ Home Lift available for customers to try as well as models demonstrating two unique features only available from Stiltz; the ThruCar Home Lift and the Void Installation. A ThruCar enables users to enter and exit through opposite sides of the lift – perfect for wheelchair users. The void installation allows the lift to be positioned within the turn of a staircase which is only possible due to the unique freestanding nature of a Stiltz Home Lift.
